Isopropanol is a highly volatile, flammable, colourless, clear liquid that is used to remove and dissolve uncured resin from SLA and DLP 3D printed parts. It is used in FDM 3D printing for cleaning components, build plates and smoothing certain materials. Because of its rapid evaporation, it dries quickly. Therefore, the container should not be left open any longer than necessary.
High Quality, high Purity
Isopropanol from 3D-basics is with a purity of ≥ 99.9% one of the highest in the market. It is produced, bottled and quality controlled in Austria ensuring the highest quality standards. All Isopropanol containers are labeled according to the EU Regulation 1272/2008 (CLP).
Clean M-SLA, LCD, SLA 3D Prints with ease
Isopropanol is highly effective at removing any leftover uncured resin on 3d models after printing. IPA breaks the bonds of the uncured resin making the removal quick and effective. Due to its high evaporation rate Isopropanol dries off the model in seconds. This allows for little to no downtime for any subsequential post-processing steps.
Usecases for FDM 3D Printing
Isopropanol is a very effective cleaning solution for FDM 3D-Printing Buildplates. Most effective on glass buildplates (please ensure compatibility with the manufacturer of any other type of buildplate) it removes the residue of previous prints, buildplate adhesive and more. Since it dries up in seconds the next print is just a quick swipe away. For effective printing a diluted solution of 70-80% IPA with 20-30% distilled water is recommended. Higher concentrations can be used in case of stubborn residue.
How to use Isopropanol
Always wear Nitrile Gloves when handling Isopropanol.
For removing uncured Resin from SLA or DLP printed parts fill your
cleaning container with the amount specified by the manufacturer. To
minimize waste it's suggested to preclean the parts.
This can be either done by using
TPM Wash Solvent
or an already used Isopropanol bath from previous wash cycles. This will
expand the lifespan of the fresh IPA.
Place the finished print in the cleaning container and clean the parts
for at least 5 min. or according to the material manufacturers
guidelines. After the cleaning cycle, let the model dry and check for a
tacky surface, repeat if necessary till the surface is not tacky
anymore. If it's still tacky this might be a sign to replace the
Isopropanol.
Advantages of Isopropanol

How to store Isopropanol
Isopropanol is highly flammable and should be stored under appropriate conditions. Ensure to follow local regulations regarding quantity and storage conditions. In General Isopropanol should be stored cool and dry away from sunlight, sparks and ignition sources.
Disposal of Isopropanol
Isopropanol and container as well as rinsing water need to be disposed of at an appropriate waste treatment site. Please check local regulations.
